Uttam began his automotive career in 1982 in Fiji, managing a fleet of 16 vehicles and handling everything from servicing to mechanical and body repairs. He worked with brands like Ford, Holden, and Toyota before expanding into rally and performance vehicles, gaining hands-on experience with models such as Minis and Ford Escorts. This experience built a strong foundation in both everyday vehicle maintenance and high-performance automotive work.
After working with Toyota and Hyundai in Fiji and running his own workshop, Uttam moved to Christchurch in 2000, joining DesignLine Bus Company. In 2016, he founded K&K General Motor Repairs with his son Jay. Today, they deliver reliable, high-quality repairs across all makes and models with a skilled team. Their focus remains on honest service, quality workmanship, and long-term customer trust.
Jay is a highly skilled automotive technician with over a decade of experience. He's certified in light automotive levels 2-4 and has specialized qualifications in working with electric vehicles, making him the go-to expert for complex diagnostics and repairs. Jay's expertise extends to A/C work, diesel tuning, and he has a particular passion and extensive experience with Diesels, European vehicles & performance cars.
